Design Story
Designed for a family of four—a couple and their two sons—this 4BHK residence at Jewel of India, Jaipur, began with a very clear idea: a home that feels warm, grounded and timeless rather than overly designed. The family shares an appreciation for raw wood, natural textures and old-world materials, while preferring interiors that remain minimal, functional and easy to live with. The concept was to create a warm, minimal and timeless home using raw, natural materials. The family has a strong preference for rustic wood and old-world materials, so we balanced these elements with clean contemporary planning.
How did you incorporate the client’s love for raw and rustic materials?
Raw wood finishes, earthy textures and traditional materials were introduced throughout the home. In the bar area especially, Jaisalmer stone, brick texture and rustic wood create a strong natural character.
The bar was designed as one of the statement spaces of the home. A Jaisalmer stone element, brick-textured backdrop, wooden platform and glass-shutter storage come together to give it a rustic yet refined identity.
Instead of adding excessive décor, we focused on materials, proportions and detailing. Wall mouldings, warm wood, neutral upholstery, textured surfaces and selected traditional elements bring character while keeping the overall spaces visually calm.
es. Utility was integrated into the design wherever possible. For example, the foyer includes concealed MCB access behind the panelling along with a convenient space for sitting while removing shoes. P001 3D design
The dining space continues the warm material palette with a wooden-finish dining set, while the pearl-necklace chandelier adds a softer statement element. A sliding partition also separates the kitchen when required.
Its combination of raw materials, understated luxury and everyday functionality. The home isn't designed around short-lived trends; it is intended to feel personal, comfortable and timeless.

This became the foundation of the design language: instead of relying on decorative excess, we allowed material, texture and craftsmanship to become the character of the home. Throughout the residence, contemporary planning is balanced with elements that carry a sense of age and familiarity. The foyer introduces this philosophy with rustic-finish furniture, while practical requirements such as the MCB box and shoe-removal area are quietly integrated into the panelling and furniture design. The living and drawing spaces were intentionally kept soft and understated. A restrained neutral palette, subtle wall mouldings, fabric-finish wallpaper and warm wooden elements create a calm backdrop rather than competing for attention. The dining area continues this approach with a wooden-finish dining set and a delicate pearl-necklace chandelier, bringing a slightly nostalgic detail into an otherwise clean composition. One of the strongest expressions of the family's personality comes through the bar and entertainment area. Here, we moved deliberately towards a more raw and rustic vocabulary. Jaisalmer stone, exposed brick texture and wood bring depth and an earthy character to the space, while the glass-shutter bar storage keeps it visually refined. The bar counter itself was conceived in a raw rustic wood-log expression, celebrating the natural imperfections of timber rather than hiding them behind a polished finish. For one of the bedrooms, we shifted the experience completely and approached it with the feeling of a quiet boutique hotel suite—comfortable, composed and slightly more indulgent, while still staying connected to the home's minimal material palette. The intention was not to make every room look identical, but to give each family member an individual space while maintaining a common thread throughout the home. Ultimately, this residence is a dialogue between old and new, raw and refined, design and utility. It reflects a family that values the honesty of traditional materials but wants to live with them in a contemporary way. The result is not a trend-led interior, but a home designed to age gracefully—where natural wood, stone, texture and thoughtful functionality tell the story.
