Design Story
This 5BHK residence at Jewel of India was designed for an NRI family with a strong appreciation for contemporary design, refined materials, and spaces that feel personal rather than simply styled. From the beginning, the clients approached the project with an open mind and a genuine willingness to experiment. That freedom allowed us to explore forms, materials, textures, lighting, and details while still creating a home that feels warm and comfortable. The design moves between soft neutral tones…
The vision was to create a modern, sophisticated home that feels luxurious yet comfortable. Rather than following one design language throughout, we created a cohesive overall palette while giving every room its own personality.
The homeowners were extremely open to exploring new design ideas, materials and details. Their trust and active involvement gave us the creative freedom to experiment while keeping the home deeply personal to their lifestyle.
The original entrance was broadened and transformed from a simple transition space into a welcoming foyer and informal chit-chat area. It sets the tone for the rest of the home through warm wood, mirrors, artwork, mouldings and layered details.
Not exactly. The common areas establish the overall modern character of the home, while each bedroom was designed according to its respective owner's personality and requirements. This gives every private space an individual identity while keeping the complete home visually connected.
They are contemporary, warm and expressive. Curved forms, statement lighting, artwork, textured surfaces, warm wood and sculptural furniture create a sense of luxury without making the spaces feel overly formal.
The clients brought a broad and open-minded approach to both design and material selection. They were actively involved in discussions and quick with decisions, which allowed the project to progress at a very good pace.

The design moves between soft neutral tones, rich wood finishes, sculptural elements and carefully selected statement pieces, giving the home a modern yet timeless character. The living and dining spaces especially reflect this balance through curved forms, layered ceilings, art, warm lighting and expressive furniture. One of the most important interventions was at the entrance foyer. Instead of treating it simply as a passage into the house, the existing entry was broadened and envisioned as a welcoming chit-chat area—creating a more relaxed transition between arrival and the main living spaces. The foyer itself establishes the language of the home with warm wood, mouldings, mirrors, art and layered lighting. The heart of the residence is the expansive drawing, living and dining zone. Rather than designing these areas as isolated spaces, we wanted them to visually communicate with one another while retaining their individual identities. Sculptural furniture, statement lighting, artwork, organic curves and warm material layers bring character to the common spaces without making them feel overly formal. What makes this home particularly personal is that every bedroom was designed around its owner. Instead of repeating one aesthetic throughout all five rooms, each space responds to the personality, lifestyle and requirements of the person using it. The Ved bedroom has a cleaner contemporary language, the Khushboo bedroom introduces softer classical detailing, while the master and parents' bedrooms develop their own distinct moods. Even the office follows its own more sculptural, contemporary expression, reinforcing the idea that every space belongs to the person who inhabits it. For me, the most memorable part of this project has been the collaboration with the clients. Their involvement was never a limitation—it became one of the strengths of the design process. They were decisive, receptive to new ideas and equally enthusiastic about exploring materials and details. Their pace of decision-making matched ours, allowing design, selections and execution to move forward with remarkable momentum. The result is a home that doesn't follow a single design formula. It reflects a family—collectively in its common spaces and individually behind every bedroom door. And perhaps that is what makes this project particularly special for us at Plenara Studio: the trust, creative freedom and active involvement of the clients have made the entire journey genuinely enjoyable. With the same energy carrying through execution, we are working towards bringing this complete 5BHK home to life within six months.
